Casual Christmas

 Sweater :: Aerie similar style here
Jeans :: Gap
Belt :: Loft
Booties :: Michael Kors

Happy boxing day y'all! I hope everyone is taking advantage of the great sales going on today.

Today's post is my Christmas Day attire for a casual Chinese food and movie experience. I've always been a fan of high waisted jeans, and I just bought a pair from Gap before I went on holiday to London. Let me tell you, they are my new favorite jeans so I just had to get them in whatever color options they had available. The location by me only had a light and dark wash, but they are fantastic! So comfortable and are really one of the better pair of denim that I own.

When it comes to high waisted jeans, I love showing them off. While they can be worn under your top, I like the idea of tucking my top in and showing off the detail of the denim and whatever belt I'm currently fancying. Paired with a cozy sweater and my cheetah print MK booties to play off the belt, the look is complete.

Hope you're all having a wonderful holiday break<3

Sequins & Side Stripes

Top :: J. Crew
Jeans :: Bebe
Boots :: Marc Fisher

I am currently loving this top from J. Crew. I saw it around Black Friday but passed because I tried the white version on. I almost wish I tried this color on sooner, although because I waited I was able to snag it on sale ;) sometimes patience really works in your favor.

Do you have any favorite Black Friday/holiday buys? Let me know in the comments below!

Return From Abroad

Long time no see! Apologies for being MIA for quite some time. Work has been a bit crazy so I couldn't give my full attention to the blog.

If you follow my Instagram, you'll have noticed that I went on Holiday to London and Paris and I took this time for some much needed rest and relaxation, but there are a ton of new posts in the works for you!

In the meantime, here's an outfit I wore to work this week. Dress is COS, jacket is Topshop, scarf is from Macy's, and boots are Sam Edelman.

Clinging to Autumn

In the middle of the week we had a break from the deep freeze. That moment of warmth left me with an opportunity to comfortably throw on a midi skirt. At my
job I don't necessarily have a dress code so I have a little more freedom in what I choose to wear.

I think this look is a bit retro 50s meets country, but it's absolutely comfortable and I love it. The skirt from Tome comes with a self tie belt. Normally I would tie it in the front, but to create a more sleek look I left the tie in the back and kept all of the crisp clean lines in the front. Best part, as with all skirts and dresses like this, POCKETS!

Fall Sports: Styling Your Jersey

Blazer :: H&M similar here
Bag :: Coach similar style here
Booties :: Michael Kors

When autumn rolls around, that usually brings about fall sports. While soccer isn't limited to the fall, I wanted to show how you can maintain your personal style while showng your pride for your team.

One of the downfalls to sports jersey's is the lack of structure. To make up for this, try pairing it with a more tailored piece such as a blazer or a structured jacket.

Another way to add some detail to your outfit is in your shoes. Whether you choose to go for a more casual option like sneakers or something a bit dressier such as boots or even heels, this is one of the best ways to really add your own style to a more generic look. It's great to wear your teams colors, but if you don't want to entirely blend in with the crowd you definitely have a few options to maintain your unique style.

My current obsession is monk strap shoes. I've been dying to get my hands on a pair. They're so sophisticated and can dress up any look. For me, they're this seasons must have piece!

All Hallows' Eve

Halloween, as some of you may know, is one of my all time favorite holidays. I love challenging myself to come up with a more unique costume every year and I am definitely content with how this one turned out! Particularly because my sash and cape are handmade :) It took hours to sew the cape together, and it wasn't the best job either, but it definitely completed the costume and I'm glad I put the effort in.

I hope you all had a safe and fun halloween!! Tell me all about your own costumes in the comments below!😘

Hidden Gems

How easy is it to throw on all black everything? As much as I love color, black is a reliable clothing option because it can go with almost anything! On Friday I was inspired by the cold and attempting to dress somewhat decent for casual drinks with my friends after work.

I have to say that one of my favorite things about this look is the shoes. When I was in college I absolutely hated them. I had purchased them as business shoes to wear with suits for interviews and it was probably the most awkward look ever. Without my tights and pin stripe pants, these shoes are actually really cute. You definitely can't write something off in your wardrobe just because it doesn't go as well with a certain look. Mix things up and see what new outfits you can make! Who knows, you might find a whole new appreciation for something hiding at the bottom of your closet.

Lady In Red

Jacket :: bebe similar style here
Crop top :: bebe similar style here
Midi skirt :: Closet from Asos

What I wore to work this past Friday...

It's never too cold for a crop top. Despite the dropping temperatures, a high waisted bottom makes the outfit more appropriate for both the weather and the work environment.

Don't be afraid to wear a single color from head to toe. Obviously an all white or all black look is a staple, but try mixing things up and wearing a brighter color. Step outside of your comfort zone and try something new :)

Layering

Sweater :: Loft similar style
Dress :: Victoria's Secret similar styles here and here
Boots :: Doc Martens

Fall is perfect for layering. Your wardrobe will seem to increase tenfold with the amount of outfits you make out of layering pieces together. Outfit possibilities are endless. I love playing with different textures and prints to create new looks.

To add an edgier feel to this outfit, I paired my high lace-up doc martens with a white rose design. I love the femme punk look and have officially fallen in love with the skirt of this dress all over again.
