Baby Blues

We all have those pieces in our closet that we rarely wear but aren't willing to get rid of JUST yet because we'll totally wear them again. For me, that was this baby blue pair of pants from Club Monaco. I used to wear them all the time, but was in a rut for awhile and couldn't find anything to pair them with. This past weekend I finally worked it out as I headed to my friends baby shower (they're having a boy so pastel blue pants were highly appropriate). I paired them with this fluffy white sweater from Loft - this spring has been alternating between "is it summer yet?" hot and "I thought winter ended" cold so a sweater is still a solid option. I topped off the look with basic nude heels, not overly dressy but still enough to bring the look together. What pieces from your wardrobe are you still holding onto? Let me know in the comments below!

Wardrobe Essentials: Blazer

When building your wardrobe, it's always important to have a solid foundation in some classic staple pieces. Aside from the little black dress, my next favorite wardrobe essential is the blazer. This piece from Loft is definitely my new favorite addition to my wardrobe! I love that it's collarless and looks great with jeans, a dress, or a collarless button down. How do you like to style your blazers? Do you have a favorite cut or color? Let me know in the comments below!

Versatility

When you have a go to piece in your closet, you'll find a million different ways to wear it. Mine happens to be this sack dress from Gap. It may look like a basic black top, but it's a versatile shapeless super comfy piece. Sometimes I'll style it with knee high boots, a long necklace and no belt, or I'll cinch it in and wear some flats. Yesterday I decided to wear it as a top and paired it with some distressed jeans. I dressed the look up by adding a faux fur belt and some black wedges. Not overly dressy and not too casual, I was Easter dinner ready 👌🏼Tell me about some of your favorite versatile pieces in the comments below!

Feels Like Spring

Spring is one of my favorite seasons. As the cold winter chill starts to fade away and the hints of warmer weather abound, what's not to love?! I've definitely been stuck inside a bit more than I like with my hectic schedule, but it's nice to have days where you can just relax. For me, that involved a trip to PT and the gym, and some me time getting back in touch with my love for makeup. I don't know about you, but I can really get caught up in certain aspects of my life - primarily work - and it's easy to lose yourself in it. With a new year, and a new season, I'm starting fresh and taking time to take care of me.

So here I am! In a relaxed button down, some high waisted jeans, and my white chucks I started my weekend off ready to embrace some me time, get a bit of work done, and catch up with friends. You can never go wrong with classic pieces like these. I was ready to hit the mall, run some errands, and have a night out if I felt like throwing some heels on! What better way to reclaim your time than to be dressed comfortably and ready for anything! Do you have a go to/any occasion outfit? Let me know in the comments below!

Sunday Excursions

Coat :: Topshop
Top :: Loft
Jeans :: bebe similar style here
Boots :: Marc Fisher
Bag :: Coach similar style here

I know it's been ages since I've posted, but I promise it's because I've been working hard and not because I don't care about you all!

On Sunday I took some time to go out, visit the MET, and stroll alongside Central Park. With the weather just starting to warm up, I am super excited for all of the clothing I can finally show off! Layering is great and all, but there are so many things I miss wearing during those cold winter months.

For my little day trip I wanted to keep things comfortable but still sophisticated. You can do no wrong with a classic white shirt paired with some jeans, especially this one from Loft. It has a slightly cropped front and a voluminous back. Small details like that make all the difference with classic pieces.

Knee high black boots and a matching cross body bag bring some contrast to the light and airy feel of the blouse. The salt & pepper colored jacket brings the entire look together and adds a cozier touch of wool.

I hope in my absence you've all been fairing well. I cannot wait to get back to regularly posting and sharing my looks with you!

Getting Organized:

I don't know about the rest of you, but when it comes to organizing my clothing I have wonderful ideas but rarely put them into action. I know it's awful, I should be taking better care of everything I own, but sometimes with the hours I work it's a bit difficult. I just want to get home and do absolutely nothing.

Today, whilst working from home due to the "blizzard" I was motivated to start some reorganization. Not only did I need to find a neat way to pack everything away, but it needed to be in a way that was easily accessible and where I could still see each individual item.

The results are as follows:

For jeans and denim, I find it best to leave the waistband face up. This allows you to read the brand and give a clue as to the cut and style of the pant, beyond just the wash.

I also reorganized my athletic/swimsuit drawer from outerwear to tops and bottoms.

My skirts and shorts drawer is packed the same as my jean drawers, except for the fact that I have rolled up all of my tights and pantyhose and tucked them in the middle.

Personally, it is so hard to be motivated to do this revamping because sometimes it seems overwhelming (I still have two other dressers to fix as well as a shelving unit and my closet), but once you get started it is totally worth it. I can tell that it's going to be easier to get ready in the mornings and even to keep things this organized. Plus, sorting through everything allows me to decide what I don't need anymore and can donate to those in need!

What's your favorite method to stay organized? Let me know in the comments below!

Casual Christmas

 Sweater :: Aerie similar style here
Jeans :: Gap
Belt :: Loft
Booties :: Michael Kors

Happy boxing day y'all! I hope everyone is taking advantage of the great sales going on today.

Today's post is my Christmas Day attire for a casual Chinese food and movie experience. I've always been a fan of high waisted jeans, and I just bought a pair from Gap before I went on holiday to London. Let me tell you, they are my new favorite jeans so I just had to get them in whatever color options they had available. The location by me only had a light and dark wash, but they are fantastic! So comfortable and are really one of the better pair of denim that I own.

When it comes to high waisted jeans, I love showing them off. While they can be worn under your top, I like the idea of tucking my top in and showing off the detail of the denim and whatever belt I'm currently fancying. Paired with a cozy sweater and my cheetah print MK booties to play off the belt, the look is complete.

Hope you're all having a wonderful holiday break<3

Lady In Red

Jacket :: bebe similar style here
Crop top :: bebe similar style here
Midi skirt :: Closet from Asos

What I wore to work this past Friday...

It's never too cold for a crop top. Despite the dropping temperatures, a high waisted bottom makes the outfit more appropriate for both the weather and the work environment.

Don't be afraid to wear a single color from head to toe. Obviously an all white or all black look is a staple, but try mixing things up and wearing a brighter color. Step outside of your comfort zone and try something new :)

Layering

Sweater :: Loft similar style
Dress :: Victoria's Secret similar styles here and here
Boots :: Doc Martens

Fall is perfect for layering. Your wardrobe will seem to increase tenfold with the amount of outfits you make out of layering pieces together. Outfit possibilities are endless. I love playing with different textures and prints to create new looks.

To add an edgier feel to this outfit, I paired my high lace-up doc martens with a white rose design. I love the femme punk look and have officially fallen in love with the skirt of this dress all over again.

Sweater Weather

Sweater :: Loft
Dress :: similar style here
Boots :: Sam Edelman

It's getting terribly cold in the northeast and that means it's finally sweater weather. For this look I layered a strapless dress with a sweater and wore some knee high boots. It's fall days like these where layering is best because mornings are freezing and the days get a bit warmer than anticipated. Do you have a favorite way to wear your sweater at the start of fall? Let me know in the comments below!

Live Love Loft

Blouse :: Loft
Pants :: Loft
Flats :: Loft similar style here

I'm kind of obsessed to this head to toe Loft look I wore to work last week so I wanted to give you the proper details in a blog post. (p.s. if you haven't noticed, my wardrobe is slowly being taken over by Loft)

I wasn't sure about this soft chambray shirt initially because I have a ton of chambray already. After wearing it out, I am in love(maybe all of the hearts had something to do with it haha)! This is probably one of the most comfortable, put together looks I've ever worn to work. The pants are stretchy which makes them great for running around, and the fit is my favorite one that Loft has to offer. While they generally tend to have a straight fit pant, this skinny fit is fantastic because it's figure flattering and cropped so you can show off whatever shoe's you're wearing.

Customized Bomber ft. eShakti

Bomber Jacket :: c/o eShakti
Tank Top :: Forever 21
Jeans :: bebe similar here
Heels :: BCBGeneration similar here

Have you ever had an issue while shopping, trying to find the perfect fit item that you're absolutely obsessed with? I know more often than not I'll love an item on the hanger, but something about how it sits on my body may not be right.

Obviously this is part of shopping 101, try on EVERYTHING, but what are you supposed to do when you can't? eShakti has a great selection of clothing that you can customize in both cut and fit so you know you'll love an item the second you see it.

When selecting an item, you can adjust things such as the neckline (whether you want a vneck, boat neck etc) as well as inputting your personal measurements to guarantee the perfect fit. I've linked this bomber to their website, and you'll notice that on the mannequin it hits at the waist. I prefer longer jackets but was so in love with the print and knew that if the length was adjusted it would be perfect. I also gave my measurements just to make sure that the jacket didn't sit awkwardly on me.

Now that I actually have the jacket, I am beyond thrilled. While I do wish that it was a bit warmer for the cold months ahead, the website does give specifics such as fabric content. I just knew I needed this jacket even if it's getting too chilly to wear on it's own, it's definitely great to have around the office.

Thank you so much eShakti for this lovely sample and be sure to click the links above to check out their selection!
