Want It Wednesday: National Lipstick Day

National Lipstick Day

Hello hello and happy Wednesday!

As yesterday was National Lipstick Day, I wanted to theme this week's #WantItWednesday around some beautifully unnatural lippies I've been dying for.

On the top left is a lipstick called Indigo Bridge from Portland Black Lipstick Co. I've mentioned this company before when I swatched my favorite fall lip colors here. These colors are highly pigmented and are completely natural. For a natural product that makes unnatural colors, the color payoff is amazing. Definitely a brand worth checking out. Some of their "unnatural" shades actually fit a more safer makeup style depending on the skin tone. While the website does not have actual swatches with the product, you can find tons of swatches from bloggers online.

The next color is from Lime Crime Makeup and is called Serpentina. This beautifully metallic green make me think of Medusa. This vegan and cruelty free brand is known for the amazing breadth of colors they provide as well as their long lasting velvetines, which happens to be my next lip color of choice.

While this last lip color is not a lipstick per-say, it comes in a tube like a gloss and dries just like a lipstick. This color is reminiscent of the Undead Red that I have from Portland Black Lipstick Co, but it has more brown undertones. The matte look of this lip is to die for, and the only reason I've held off on getting it is because even more color options will be available soon. A girl needs to weigh her options!

Want It Wednesday: Recent Beauty Buys

Happy Wednesday y'all! Today I'm switching things up a bit. Normally I post things I am lusting over, but today I'll be talking about a few things I've been dying to get my hands on and - guess what?! - I finally did!!

The other day I went into Sephora because I was out with a bare face and knew it would be the perfect time to swatch some things on my face. The first item that I grabbed is from the amazing Anastasia Beverly Hills collection, specifically her dipbrow pomade.

This stuff is seriously amazing! I got "Dark Brown" because my hair color is still dark from the last dye job I had. The consistency of this product is great, it goes on really smooth and lasts ALL day. I was a bit nervous at first because I'm used to working with pencils, but when put in lightly with an angled brush you really have nothing to worry about. Plus this stuff is great for oily skin and the humidity, what more could you ask for?!

The other item that I bought, and have been quite curious about, is the beauty blender.

In all honesty, I was a bit hesitant about purchasing this at first. While I had heard great things, I really wasn't sure what could make a funky shaped sponge so amazing. Let me tell you, I was wrong to second guess the greatness of this product for even a second! I used to use a stippling brush, and while it does wonders, I really don't think it compares to what the beautyblender has done for me. You use the sponge damp and use the same stippling effect as with a brush, but the payoff is amazing. I definitely need to invest in a better foundation, but in the meantime this makes a world of difference in how even and smooth my face makeup looks. Seriously, a must buy!

IMATS NYC 2014

This past Sunday I went to the IMATS in NYC. It was my first time going and I'm hooked, I plan on going back next year! So many fantastic brands and youtubers, it was heaven filled with endless amounts of color!

I got to meet the truly outrageous, one and only Doe Deere of Lime Crime Makeup. She has a super funky style of prints and bright colors. I am obsessed with her style and the amazing makeup she makes. Her line is completely vegan and cruelty free and the color payoff is AMAZING. She has a ton of amazing products like velvetines which are liquid like a lipgloss and dry matte, the best eye primer I've ever used, and a ton of color lipsticks and eye colors.

I also got to meet the super cute Amy from Sugarpill Cosmetics, another vegan and cruelty free line that has fantastic color payoff. Her line is mainly eyeshadows and eyelashes. She is like a little lolita always dressing up in super bright colors with a head of rainbow hair and beautifully bright makeup.

While I was there I also caught a glimpse of Jeffree Star and some youtubers like Makeup Geek.

For my makeup I did a very colorful look with lavender and pink eyebrows using a basic white pencil as the base, a lavender color from my 88 palette, and passionate from MAC cosmetics. On my lips I used the purple cloud from Portland Black Lipstick Co. which uses natural products in their lipsticks. Because I had such a colorful face I wanted to keep things simple so I wore all black. I found this beautiful peplum top from Club Monaco for just $35!! It was on sale with an additional 50% off, definitely a great steal!

After an amazing day filled with makeup and color and so many beautiful faces my friend and I enjoyed a burrito at a cute little Mexican restaurant on the way home. It definitely was a day to remember.

Don't forget! I have a contest going on right now where you could win a $50 gift card that can be used anywhere. Be sure to read my previous post for the complete details. As always, thanks for reading and Happy Friday!

The Most Frightening Time Of The Year: Halloween!

Hello to all of my lovely readers! I am terribly sorry for the delay in this post BUT there is reason behind it! As I mentioned in my last post, I wanted to show you all something Halloween related, that being my costumes. I didn't wear my second costume until last night when I went to the Misfits show so unfortunately my post was delayed.

Before you I have two movie inspired costumes, the first being Alex DeLarge from A Clockwork Orange. The costume was simple enough to wear to work and I still got to play around with makeup, plus nothing beats a cult classic inspired look. For my second costume I was inspired by the bride of Frankenstein, but to increase the intensity of the costume I made my skin green like Frankenstein's monster. The result, in my opinion, is the birth-child of the two post-mortem creatures. In the last photo you see my from who I helped create this werewolf makeup look.

I hope you all had a wonderfully spooktacular Halloween! Let me know what you dressed up as in the comments below! And to those of you still going out for the rest of the weekend, stay safe and have fun!

Lipstick Love: Colors For Fall

From top to bottom: OCC Lip Tar - Black Dahlia, Portland Black Lipstick Co. - Undead Red, Portland Black Lipstick Co. - Artificial Amethyst, MAC Cosmetics - Rebel, MAC Cosmetics - Firm Form

Hello all! As I've been feeling under the weather this week it's been difficult for me to keep up with my outfit posts, plus looking sickly doesn't really suit me. REGARDLESS, that will not stop me from posting and keeping you lovely readers entertained!

Today I decided to talk about one of my favorite topics, lipsticks. While I think you can wear any color you want all year round, there are definitely some colors suited for the fall season and here are a few of my favorites! One brand that I love is OCC for it's amazing collection of Lip Tars. This specific color is called Black Dahlia which they list as their blackest blackened red, and they do not fail to uphold the depth in color. Lip Tars are fabulous because they are long lasting, and a little dab will truthfully cover your lips in bold colors. The link that I've added is to all of their matte colors, but they now also provide clear, metallic, and stained gloss.

The next two colors are from Portland Black Lipstick Co. which I discovered in an article on Beatylish this time last year. The company was created with the intention of providing an affordable black lipstick made from all natural ingredients. They've expanded to include many more unnatural colors including the two pictured above, Undead Red and Artificial Amethyst. Undead Red is this clay-ish type of color that leans more towards a plum color while Artificial Amethyst is this beautiful deep purple with such a shine to it.

The last two colors are from MAC cosmetics. Rebel is a fuchsia plum, when worn on it's own you see more of the fuchsia color but when you wear it over a dark lipliner the plum really pops. My last selection is a color called Firm Form which is a gilded black. While black is a very strong color, this one is very sheer and the gold shimmer makes it much more fun and playful.

I hope you've enjoyed my selections, let me know your favorite fall lip colors in the comments below!!
